Magenta Printhead
From a single function inkjet printers suitable basis for the home or home office I have not gone the way of the dinosaurs, or even not so extinct dot matrix printer, but are increasingly rare. More and more, inkjet printers are being replaced with standard all-in-one (AIOS), by one hand and largely Photo printers on the other. The Canon iP4600 ($ 99.99 direct) is one of the few inkjet low cost still qualify for the category of standard inkjet printer, but even includes some touches Photography, including a PictBridge connector.
As the number of inkjet printers only function is reduced, the printers have transferred enough so that there is a choice of the editors present in this category. The last printer for this designation was the Canon Pixma iP4300, a direct ancestor the iP4600.
When the Canon iP4300 is replaced with the almost identical but more expensive Pixma iP4500 (iP4400 not), the highest price the unit was sufficient to prevent earn Editors Choice '. The iP4600 prices fall back to where I was for the iP4300, but also lost print speed, which has been one of the strengths of the Canon PIXMA printers. The shift in velocity is sufficient to maintain the containment iP4600 for Editors' Choice, out of the category yet a winner in progress.
Like previous models, the iP4600 offers excellent paper handling. Two paper trays give you the option of loading 150 sheets of paper normal in each, or load plain paper in one and photo paper in the other. The first option allows you to have a more-than-a wide load of 300 sheets at a time. The second, switches between document formats and print photos without swapping out paper in the tray, and still gives you more capacity input you get from many printers intended for home and home office. Even better, the printer also includes an automatic duplex unit that can print on both sides of a page.
The standard setup for a Canon. Set the 6-by-11.7-by-17-inch (AAP) iP4600 place, remove the packing material, then plug the power cord, snap in the printhead and five ink cartridges, and load paper. Then run the setup program automatically the disk, then plug in the USB cable when the program tells you to. The five ink cartridges, one for each color are for cyan, yellow, magenta and black two versions – a pigment-based black for text and a dye-based black for photos.
